Minister of environment

Born on 15 July 1956 in Żabianka. Sejm deputy of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th term of office.

Since November 2015 – Minister and Member of the Council of Ministers, Chief of the Permanent Committee of the Council of Ministers. In 2016, he performed duties of the Minister of State Treasury. Deputy Chief of the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers since September 2016. 

From 7 June 2006 to 16 November 2007 he was a Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Government plenipotentiary for agricultural system establishment.

In 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Warsaw. In 1979–1990, he worked as a mathematics teacher at the Agricultural School Complex in Golądkowo.

He acted as the voit of Winnica Municipality in 1990–1998 and 1999–2005. He was the Ciechanowski Voivode from 19 February to 31 December 1998. In 1999–2002, he was a member of the regional assembly of Mazowieckie Voivodeship.

In 1980–1981, he chaired the workplace committee of trade union NSZZ “Solidarność” at the Agricultural School Complex in Golądkowo. In 1989–1992, he chaired the Civic Committee of Winnica Municipality. He is a member of the Catholic Action of Płock diocese (vice-president of the diocesan board in 1999–2003) and of the Light-Life Movement.

In 1992–2003, he was a member of the Christian National Union.

He is married, has four children and six grandchildren.
