Summary of the meeting of the Social Committee of the Council of Ministers

Another meeting of the Social Committee of the Council of Ministers, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński, was held on Tuesday, 21 January 2020, in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland.

During the meeting, the Social Committee approved and gave a positive recommendation to the act amending the Civil Procedure Code Act and several other acts, allowing courts as well as the police to order that perpetrators of domestic violence leave a dwelling. This is a crucial act that addresses the vital issue of domestic violence said Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński, the head of the Social Committee.

The Social Committee considered the information provided by the Minister of Health about a new model of psychiatric treatment of children. Józefa Szczurek – Żelazko, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, stressed that a new system includes response to issues associated with children’s mental health in earlier stages by establishing a network of therapeutic clinics.

Prof. Józefina Hrynkiewicz presented the Social Committee with the annual Government Population Council report on the demographic situation in Poland. The head of the Social Committee stated that the report outcomes would be discussed at the next Social Committee’s meeting.
