Minister of foreign affairs


Born on May 5, 1957 in Piotrków Trybunalski. Deputy to the Sejm of the VII and VIII term.

Historian, political scientist, diplomat. Hold DSc degree in humanities. He graduated from the University of Łódź, University of Oregon in the United States, completed his postgraduate studies in Geneva and specialist courses in international security in NATO centers in Europe and the US.

A researcher and lecturer inter alia at the following institutions: University of Łódź, University of Warsaw, Higher School of Business in Nowy Sącz, National School of Public Administration, National Defence University, University of Commerce and Law in Warsaw, and Toruń High School. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź.

Worked for the MFA in 1992 - 2008. He was Deputy Representative of the Republic of Poland to NATO, Ambassador to Iran, Undersecretary of State (negotiator of the agreement with the US on anti-missile defense system).

In 2008 - 2010 he was the Deputy Head of the National Security Bureau.

In the Parliament he was, inter alia, Vice-President of the Foreign Affairs Committee. The Special Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO on Western Balkans, Ukraine, and Russia.
