Minister of family, labour and social policy
She is responsible for supporting and protecting families and providing social assistance. She manages programmes aimed at people facing the threat of social exclusion and the activation of entities operating in the area of the social and charitable economy. She also carries out activities related to pension insurance and for people with disabilities. She is responsible for the policy focused on seniors.
Her duties include support and protection of families and social welfare. She is responsible for counteracting unemployment, for matters related to employment as defined in the Labour Code and for retirement pensions. She also conducts activities for the benefit of senior citizens.
Marlena Maląg completed a pedagogy course at the Faculty of Humanities of the Higher School of Pedagogy in Częstochowa and post-graduate studies in the field of mathematics and computer science at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, management at the Poznań University of Technology as well as education management at the Baltic Higher School of Humanities.
For many years she has been involved in education; she is a certified teacher. Between 1999 and 2011, she served as headmistress at the John Paul II Public Middle School and the High School of General Education in Ostrów Wielkopolski. From 2011 until 2012, she was the head of the Department of Education and Sports at the Municipal Office, and from 2012 until 2014, she held the position of Deputy President of the City of Ostrów Wielkopolski.
Between 2002 and 2006, she served as a member of the Ostrów Wielkopolski City Council, while from 2006 until 2016, she held the office of member of the Ostrów Poviat Council, which also included acting as the Deputy Chairwoman of the Council, as well as the office of Deputy Starost of the Ostrów Poviat.
In January 2016, Beata Szydło, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, entrusted Marlena Maląg with the function of the Voivode of Greater Poland, which she held until December 2018.
Between October 2018 and October 2019, she served as the Member of the Regional Parliament of the Greater Poland Voivodeship.
In December 2018, she was appointed by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to the position of the President of the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled People.
During the October 2019 election, she was elected member of the 9th term Polish Parliament (Sejm).
She follows a traditional system of values in her personal and professional life. The words of the Great Pole, St. John Paul II, are her life motto: "Man is not great because of what he owns, but because of what he is; not because of what he has, but because of that which he shares with others. You must demand of yourselves, even if others would not demand of you".
On 15 November 2019, she was appointed to the office of Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.
