Minister Elżbieta Witek was born on 17 December 1957 in Jawor. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Wrocław with a Master’s degree. She also completed a postgraduate programme in EU studies at the Institute of History of the University of Wrocław. For many years, she used to work as a teacher and the Director of the 2nd Primary School and the Complex of General Secondary Schools in Jawor.

The new Minister of the Interior and Administration was a deputy to the Sejm of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th terms. She is also a member of the Political Committee of Law and Justice. In 2015–2017, she was a minister-member of the Council of Ministers, the Head of the Prime Minister’s Political Cabinet and the Government Spokesperson.

On 4 June 2019 in the Presidential Palace, Minister Elżbieta Witek appointed as the Minister of the Interior and Administration by President Andrzej Duda and took the oath.
