We are developing the Local Government Roads Fund – in 2021, the government is planning another call

PLN 3.2 billion  – this is the amount of funds to be used under the Local Government Roads Fund (LGRF) next years. The programme was established in 2019. It is primarily aimed at improving road traffic safety. It enabled the renovation of 6 thousand kilometres of local roads in Poland. The renovation of subsequent thousands of kilometres is underway or awaits completion.

In Szydłowiec, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk informed about the plan of development of municipal and poviat roads.

"The Local Government Roads Fund, that is the government's programme for the development of poviat and municipal roads, is a great achievement praised by all local government officials," said the head of government.

He also emphasised that the government strives to develop a plan for local investments that simultaneously support local communities. "The roads under construction bring transport, tourists and entrepreneurs to towns. This is a key element of the entire economic plan," said the Prime Minister in Szydłowiec.

Improvement of local road infrastructure

This is one of the priority programmes addressed to local governments. Its aim is primarily to improve road traffic safety and technical parameters of the local road network. As a result, it also increases the attractiveness and accessibility of investment areas. The Fund can finance large, long-term investments, the implementation of which often places a burden on the budgets of local governments.

Billions for local roads

Created in 2019, the Local Government Roads Fund amounts to PLN 36 billion for the implementation of infrastructural tasks by local governments in 2019-2028. The development of local road infrastructure complements activities undertaken at the national level, such as the construction of a system of motorways and expressways. This enables the creation of a coherent and integrated transport system.

PLN 3.8 billion has already been spent

In 2019, local governments used the funds of PLN 3.8 billion to implement over 4.2 thousand tasks. This means 6 thousand kilometres of communal and district roads which were built, rebuilt or renovated.

Another PLN 3.2 billion in 2020

In 2020, over PLN 3.2 billion is available under the LGRF. The state budget will provide funding for approx. 2.3 thousand poviat and municipal tasks, which will improve the infrastructure on nearly 3.5 thousand km of roads.
