Vatican: Prime Minister took part in the celebrations of the Pope – Pole’s canonization

On Sunday at St. Peter's Square, the canonization service of John Paul II and Pope John XXIII took place, led by Pope Francis.

In addition to the prime minister and his spouse, the ceremony was also attended by President Bronisław Komorowski, former Presidents Lech Wałęsa and Aleksander Kwaśniewski, the Speakers of the Sejm and the Senate, as well as the delegation of the Polish MPs.

The service was attended by 93 official delegations, including 24 heads of state.

This canonization is unprecedented in the history of the Catholic Church. The service, acclaimed as the canonization of the century, was led by Pope Francis and concelebrated by more than 100 cardinals and about one thousand bishops. The concelebration was also attended by Retired pontiff Benedict XVI.

A day earlier, the prime minister and his wife took part in a concert of Stanislaw Soyka and the band Affabre Concinui in Roman Chiesa Nuova. The church was filled to the brim with mostly Polish pilgrims.
