The Prime Minister’s telephone conversation with the German Chancellor

A telephone conversation took place this morning between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The subject of the conversation was mainly the situation related to Brexit, and in particular lack of acceptance of the Withdrawal Agreement by the British House of Commons and the yesterday’s vote in which the UK Parliament obliged the Theresa May government to continue negotiations with the European Union. From the point of view of Poland and Germany, the best solution would be to avoid what is called a “hard Brexit”, i.e. United Kingdom leaving the European Union without any agreement. The heads of the Polish and the German governments agreed that the best-case scenario would be the entry into force of the agreement negotiated in November between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
