Radom: Prime Minister on additional funds for the Voluntary Fire Service Units

This year OSP units will for the first time have the opportunity to apply for funds that will allow them to finance activity other than e.g. fighting fires. Additional funds will allow for such activities as promoting first aid rules and organising educational, cultural and sporting events.

In appreciation of the OSP’s activity, the government decided that tasks carried out by voluntary fire service units have acquired a statutory rank. “The funds we have committed are being allocated towards musical equipment, sports equipment, accessories related to the firefighters’ voluntary work,” said the Prime Minister during the ceremony of awarding subsidy promises for OSP units.

“Voluntary Fire Service Departments usually serve a very important social and patriotic function,” noted the head of the government.

For years now, OSP units have been fighting fires and helping victims of traffic accidents. They also carry out other tasks, which are related to the broadly understood security and social prevention.
