Prime Minister: You are a national treasure and ambassadors of Polish tradition in the world

Stanisław Hadyna’s Śląsk Song and Dance Ensemble is one of the best known Polish artistic brands. They perform over 120 concerts every year. Your work is known across all continents, it is difficult to imagine a better showcase for Poland said the Prime Minister when he visited the artists in their abode in Koszęcin, in the Śląskie Voivoideship.

During today’s visit the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Minister of Culture Piotr Gliński, awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis to Zbigniew Cierniak, director of the Śląsk ensemble.

The Song and Dance Ensemble was founded in 1953 by Stanisław Hadyna and Elwira Kamińska. It currently has over one hundred members, performing across the choir, ballet and orchestra sections. The Silesian Centre of Regional Education was founded in 2005 and as part of the educational activity inscribed in the Ensemble’s statute, it has been educating children, young people and teachers about the region’s artistic heritage.
