"When the epidemic struck, we had to make a quick decision to save jobs. We are here for you. The new Local Government Investment Fund will support the residents and help overcome the crisis," Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.
Additional funds for local investments
The Local Government Investment Fund is PLN 6 billion for gminas and poviats throughout Poland. Additional funds will also support Polish small and medium-sized companies that carry out projects for local governments.
Special support can be provided to rural and urban-rural gminas, which - regardless of their size - will receive at least half a million PLN. In total, over PLN 2.6 billion will be available for them.
"We bring new perspectives and new hope. Through the Local Government Investment Fund, we want the development axis of the government-local government to be as oiled as possible, so that it will be of benefit to the residents," the head of the government added.
The money can be spent on any kind of projects that are close to people, e.g. public transport, schools, kindergartens, waterworks, hospitals, pavements or nursing homes, as well as other local activities. The maximum grant for one local government under the Fund amounts to over PLN 93 million.
What is important, the funds will be granted to gminas and poviats in the form of bank transfers, at their request - without unnecessary bureaucracy.
The head of the government visited 10 poviats in Lubelskie, Mazowieckie and Podlaskie Voivodeships, handing over symbolic cheques to the representatives of poviat and gmina authorities, totalling more than PLN 155 million.
