Prime Minister: We want Łódź to be a magnet for new investments

The government supports investments that are important for the inhabitants of the Łódź Voivodship. This includes the construction of a cross-city tunnel in Łódź, road S14, ring roads and support under the Local Government Roads Fund. We also remember about saving jobs due to the crisis caused by COVID-19. So far, we have transferred over PLN 5 billion for this purpose in the Łódź Voivodship.

Construction of the cross-city tunnel in Łódź

The investment will ensure faster connection through the city center, and will also contribute to the creation of an effective system of national interregional connections covering the region of central Poland. The construction of the tunnel is a continuation of the works related to the construction of the Łódź Fabryczna station.

We’ve been playing catch-up. I am glad that we will be dealing with such a highly advanced investment in Łódź emphasised Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. We will continue to help Łódź so that it can develop as much as possible he added.

Thanks to the tunnel construction, the Łódź Fabryczna station will be transformed from the end station to a pass-through station. The travel time will be shorter, and both regional and long-distance trains will be able to travel through the very center of Łódź. Łódź will also gain 3 underground stations - this will be the so-called "Small metro".

  • Project value: over PLN 1.7 billion
  • Tunnel length: approx. 7.5 km
  • Total track length: approx. 17 km
  • Three new underground stations in the center of Łódź (the so-called "small metro")

Culture – a flywheel of the Polish economy

The government invests also in culture. Łódź is a city of innovation and culture. During the last 4.5 years only, we have allocated PLN 250 million for cultural investments in Łódź said Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński. We cooperate five cultural institutions. Three of them: the Grand Theater, the Musical Theater and the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic were under the patronage of the state during our term. We support museums. The Textile Museum and the Museum of Cinematography, thanks to ministerial grants, carry out a number of valuable projects. We have been the first government that invests in culture so heavily. We have been doing it because we are aware that it is extremely important for our national identity. Culture is also a great flywheel for the Polish econom he added.

Modernity is automation and digitisation

During his visit to Łódź, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also met with the Management Board of the “Fabryka” Creativity Center and representatives of startups. He also visited the technology company - SelfMaker.

The crisis in the world caused by the coronavirus pandemic is a huge challenge, but also a chance said the Prime Minister at SelfMaker. This opportunity was used in Łódź by marketing an automatic disinfection device. All elements of self-service are elements of the 4.0 revolution he added.

As the head of government pointed out, the economic level is being raised through the implementation of automation and digitisation. It is a chance for the development and promotion of Poland in the world.
