Prime Minister: We showed care for the Polish interest

The government wants to support local governments in carrying out investments that will serve the residents. That is why we have prepared a special fund worth PLN 6 billion, initiated by President Andrzej Duda. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki presented the Łódź and Masovian local governments with symbolic checks with co-financing from the Government Local Investment Fund. The money can be used e.g. for the renovation of a road or sewage system.

The Head of Government visited six poviats in Łódź and Masovian Voivodeships, including such towns as Bełchatów, Radomsko, Szydłowiec and Zwoleń.

Government Local Investment Fund

Obtaining own contribution to the implementation of investments is a problem for many municipalities and poviats. That is why we want to provide the local governments with funds for the implementation of any investment tasks, e.g. for repairs, waterworks, schools, nursery schools, hospitals, pavements or social welfare homes, as well as for other local activities.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appealed to local government officials to direct funds from the Government Local Investment Fund to small and medium-sized companies, which are the flywheel of the Polish economy. "Thanks to this, our country can quickly emerge from the crisis and gain new markets in Europe and worldwide," emphasised the Prime Minister. As he added, the activation of anti-crisis financial instruments is a result of the quick action of the government and President Andrzej Duda.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki asked local government officials to help implement anti-crisis solutions in municipalities and poviats regardless of their political beliefs. "In each poviat, statistically more than 1,000 companies benefited from the Financial Shield, receiving funds from the state budget to save jobs,” informed the Head of Government. "We showed care for the Polish interest and the Polish economy," he added.

Support for all municipalities and poviats in Poland

The Government Local Investment Fund amounts to PLN 6 billion: PLN 5 billion for municipalities and PLN 1 billion for poviats. Particular support will be given to rural and urban-rural municipalities, which will receive at least PLN 0.5 million each, regardless of their size. Municipalities will receive a total of over PLN 2.6 billion.

The maximum subsidy for a single local government under the Fund is over PLN 93 million. The money will be alloctaed to municipalities and poviats in the form of transfers, at their request – without unnecessary bureaucracy.

The funds from the Government Local Investment Fund will also be an aid for Polish small and medium-sized companies that carry out investments for municipalities and poviats.
