Prime Minister: Remembrance is necessary for a nation to function

Without remembrance, it is hard to imagine a strong nation that can proudly look towards the future,” said the Head of the Government during the Strażnik Pamięci (“Guardian of Remembrance”) 2019 gala in Warsaw. It is the 7th time that the Do Rzeczy weekly presents the award to persons and institutions who have distinguished themselves by promoting and defending the truth concerning the history of Poland.

History is the work of man,” continued Mateusz Morawiecki, quoting Zbigniew Herbert, a Polish national poet. He expressed his thanks to all those who are emissaries from the past to the future. “All initiatives which aim to restore remembrance are very important,” concluded the Prime Minister.

The Strażnik Pamięci (“Guardian of Remembrance”) award is presented by the “Do Rzeczy” weekly in three categories:  Creator – awarded to persons who contribute towards restoration of remembrance; Institution – awarded to museums, associations, foundations and organisations which were established or have in the previous year undertaken new initiatives in order to fulfil the goals of the award; and Patron – awarded to a public or commercial entity which provides remarkable material support towards care for historical remembrance.
