 As the government, we will do everything in our power to maintain as close as possible connection between Poland and Poles, wherever they may be, said the Prime Minister, addressing the representatives of the Polish community abroad. Today, we appoint a Plenipotentiary in order for Poland to even better serve you and your relationship with our beautiful country, he continued.

 You are a visible evidence of the beauty of Polish culture, added the Prime Minister, directly addressing the children present at the ceremony. We want Poland to be in your hearts, actions, and deeds, regardless of where you are, so that it is not a mere reflection of the past, he emphasised.

The position of the Plenipotentiary was established by a regulation of the Council of Ministers of 16 December 2019. The main tasks of the Plenipotentiary include:

  • development of proposals for actions and initiatives of the Council of Ministers and the President of the Council of Ministers for the benefit of the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad;
  • implementation of activities for the support of the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad commissioned by the Council of Ministers or the President of the Council of Ministers, in particular the organisation of various forms of assistance for organisations and communities of the Polish Diaspora;
  • implementation of other activities, in particular those relating to the promotion of the issues of the Polish Diaspora, commissioned by the Council of Ministers or the President of the Council of Ministers.
