Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: We will toughen penalties for child sex abuse

Child sex abuse offences will be punished much more severely than now. The key solutions proposed by the Council of Ministers include even 30 years of prison for raping a child, no prescription for paedophilia crimes, criminal protection against sex abuse for all children up to 16 years of age as well as disclosure of convicts’ professions in the register of paedophiles.

As underlined by the Prime Minister, the government is determined to fight child sex abuse and other atrocities. Any degenerate, revolting and cruel crime or social behaviour will be punished said the Prime Minister.

Mateusz Morawiecki explained that the changes are based on the need to protect the fundamental rights, such as life, health, sexual freedom or ownership. As he added, sentences for child sex abuse crimes should not be suspended.

Moreover, the Prime Minister underlined that those who care for children in various institutions both inside and outside the Church’s structures have to punished more severely for child abuse. The law applies equally to everyone. There will be no special treatment stated the Prime Minister.
