The Head of the Government stressed that the
Programme for Silesia was an important element of the Government’s economic programme and the
major driving system of the Polish economy. He added,
I would like whole Poland to be in the glory of the Silesian Voivodeship and I would also like the gentle transformation of the Silesian economy to be our great asset in the economic competition all over Europe.
Innovation in the mining industry
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the mining industry was of importance for the Government since
it is an energy-related drive of our whole economy. As he added, important was the increased innovation of the industry, as well as development investment projects, so that
they could be a component of the entire transformation programme.
Here, modern Poland is born but it is also in full symbiosis with what we know from the past, i.e. the mining and energy power said the Head of the Government.
During his address, the Prime Minister said
clean environment is a part of the Programme for Silesia and improving the quality of the natural environment is an important task for us. He added that Silesia would become an area of decarbonised transport.
However, as stressed by the Prime Minister,
this is what we call squaring the circle – the mining industry wants to sell coal and we want mines to be our major part of energy sovereignty all the time but we also want the clean air.
The Head of the Government highlighted that the programme for thermal efficiency improvement and improvement in environmental conditions was being implemented. As he said,
we want to have the clean air and the inhabitants of the Silesian Voivodeship also want to have the clean air therefore, the new standards for the quality of boilers and stoves have been defined.
We are discussing the regulation on the quality of fuels to be used for burning.
One of the objectives of the
Programme for Silesia is also modernisation of transport infrastructure. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki pointed to the programme of modernisation of local roads, adopted by the Council of Ministers the day before. He also mentioned energy security which could be provided, inter alia, by establishments located in the Silesian Voivodeship and by
repolonisation i.e. redemption of a part of energy assets. An important point of the Programme is also to improve the living standards of the inhabitants in the whole voivodeship by creating the Silesian-Dąbrowa Basin metropolitan area.
Improving the comfort of life for the inhabitants of the Silesian Voivodeship is what we mean said the Prime Minister.
Programme for Silesia is one of the projects of the Strategy for Responsible Development (SRD).
The Programme assumes:
- Increased innovation of the industry and development investment projects in the region,
- Increased occupational activity and improved qualifications of the inhabitants of the region,
- Improved quality of the natural environment,
- Development and modernisation of transport infrastructure,
- Tapping the potential of the Silesian Voivodeship so as to provide energy security of the country and the development of innovation in the energy industry,
- Improved development conditions of cities in the Silesian Voivodeship.
