Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: Thanks to the fight against VAT mafias, we have funds for the Local Government Roads Fund.

Local roads are a comfort of life for residents, but also a chance to attract investors said the Prime Minister during the opening ceremony of the Zaliszcze-Podedwórze poviat road in the Lubelskie Voivodeship.

I am glad that we can develop roads in the gminas, where state aid is particularly needed said the head of the government. He also stressed that the fight against VAT mafias made it possible to obtain funds for the implementation of government programmes, such as the Local Government Roads Fund (FDS), the purpose of which will be to finance the construction of a larger number of gmina and poviat roads.

The funds for road construction that we are now developing to the current extent did not exist before. We reclaimed these funds from tax criminals continued the Prime Minister.

The head of the government also stressed the importance of the cooperation between local governments and the state government in meeting the needs of local communities. I am pleased that the local community actively showed how to take the matter into their own hands, how cooperation between local government and support from the central budget led to the reconstruction of this road.

The Prime Minister also added how important it was to change the rules of financing such investments. Previously, there had been 50 percent of own contribution and 50 percent of subsidies from the state. Our government has changed it. For gminas which find it the most difficult to raise funds, we offer 80 percent of subsidies from the state, i.e. the majority that is necessary to carry out the investment said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
