Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on commitment of PLN 1.3 billion for support of voivodeship road infrastructure

This year, the Government decided to commit the largest amount, compared to the previous years, under the government programme for development and competitiveness of regions through the support of local road infrastructure – said the Prime Minister at the Tuesday’s voivodes briefing in the KPRM.

The Government will commit PLN 1.3 billion in total for this purpose, i.e. PLN 500 billion more that it was planned in the budget so far. This a key support for the local infrastructure and economy – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The Head of the Government emphasized that in order to ensure that the committed funds are optimal and used to the fullest extent he delegates the coordination and supervision of the programme to the voivodes. He said that this was a very important task and a great responsibility borne by the voivodes, and he was convinced that they would consider it a priority to ensure quick development of the Polish local road system.

 Regional competitiveness based on local road infrastructure

Construction and repairs of the local roads represent the key aspect of our whole economic development, and the appropriate transport connections will allow to establish new distribution centres and production plants – said the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister believes that this will contribute to a more dynamic economic development in the particular voivodships. The Head of the Government added that the local roads require nor only repairs, reconstruction, but also new investments, so far neglected, are needed in gminas and poviats.
