Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: Modern army is the Polish national interest

Modern army is the Polish national interest said the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during his visit in the First Warsaw Armoured Division in Wesoła, where together with the Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak they informed about the purchase of a mobile rocket launcher system HIMARS for the army.

The Head of Government expressed his conviction that Poland is well on its way towards building military potential which will improve the geopolitical and economic potential of our country. He added that a strong Polish army is an essential element of building a strong state in order not to let the bad past repeat and to win our future.

As he emphasized, the development of a modern army translates also greatly into the importance of Poland in Europe and in the whole world. He pointed out that our country fulfils its alliance commitments, is a more important pillar of the eastern border of the North Atlantic Alliance and ever better fulfils its tasks related to ensuring safety of the Republic of Poland.

Expressing his thanks for the presentation of the military potential of the First Warsaw Armoured Division in Wesoła, he stressed the importance of the Polish soldier’s morale and faith that we are and will be able to defend our sovereignty ever better.


The agreement with the United States government concerning the delivery to the Polish Armed Forces of a HIMARS will be signed on this Wednesday.

HIMARS is a system of mobile rocket launchers using precision-guided munition. It is a multiple launch rocket system capable of striking targets at distances of up to 300 kilometres. The missile launcher is mounted to a light armoured truck. It is an extremely important element of the implementation of the Polish Armed Forces modernisation agenda. Together with the rocket launchers, Poland will also gain weapons, as well as a logistics and training package.
