Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: AW101 helicopters will significantly strengthen our armed forces

The purchase of AW101 helicopters is also an important element of our security architecture, which will significantly strengthen our armed forces said the head of the government during the signing ceremony for the supply contract for four anti-submarine warfare helicopters held in Świdnik. The value of the contract including the logistics, training and medical equipment package totals PLN 1.65 billion. The helicopters are to be delivered by end-2022.

The Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak signed a contract for the delivery of anti-submarine helicopters suited to ensure navigability of sea routes, port security and protection of surface vessels in the PZL-Świdnik aircraft construction plant. These helicopters may also be used for combat search and rescue operations (CSAR).

The Prime Minister stressed that part of helicopter production will take place in Świdnik. Helicopter production is our Polish tradition which we will not abandon. He added that the next 5–10 years looks better and better when it comes to helicopter production in Poland.

And we are on the right track to strengthen the plant in Świdnik, just like before, we have tried and are trying to strengthen the plant in Mielec through appropriate purchases the head of the government said.
