Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at 2018 Strażnik Pamięci Gala

Memory is a contemporary component of the strength of a state said the Prime Minister during a gala at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

Talking about the importance of memory, the Head of Government pointed out that it is a necessary element of building national and state identity, as well as the effectiveness of action on the international scene.

Patriotism is the fruit of the memory tree that we need so much today said the Prime Minister. As he added, it is the only foundation on which we can rebuild memory of our great history and build our contemporary identity.

Thanks to these values we will look forward with even more confidence and we will achieve the objectives that we set emphasized the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the end of his speech. 


Prize of the weekly magazine Do Rzeczy – Strażnik Pamięci (Guardian of Memory) – has been awarded every year for five years in the following categories:

  • author – for a person which contributed to the renewal of memory,
  • institution – for an organization which in the past year undertook new initiatives aimed at achieving the objectives of the competition,
  • patron – for entities which in a particular way materially support the care for historical memory, i.a. through purchases of valuable collections for museums, sponsoring exhibitions, supporting the renewal of neglected monuments.
