Rapid response of services to flooding
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki emphasised that the state responded quickly to flooding in Podkarpacie Voivodeship and provided aid to the victims. "From the government's special-purpose reserve, flood relief allowances for 79 families were allocated. The estimation of damages is currently underway to help people as quickly as possible," the Prime Minister said. "The motto of our government is not to leave anyone without assistance," he added.
Flood protection investment
The government is planning an investment to help protect the residents of Rzeszów and the gmina of Krasne from flooding. To this end, a water management system will be designed.
The investment involves the construction of 2 flood protection reservoirs with a total area of 13.3 ha and a capacity of 130 thousand m3. The slopes will also be properly shaped, together with a sectional elevation of the banks.
The project will provide flood protection for approximately 872 residents and 273 residential buildings, covering a total area of 75 ha.
Support for Podkarpackie Voivodeship as part of the government anti-crisis measures
As a result of the situation caused by COVID-19, the government allocated more than PLN 4.2 billion to help employees and entrepreneurs in Podkarpacie Voivodeship.
Anti-Crisis Shield: over PLN 1.3 billion, including co-financing of salaries for about 120 thousand employees - more than PLN 0.5 billion
Financial Shield of the Polish Development Fund: approximately PLN 2.5 billion
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego Support Shield: approximately PLN 0.5 billion
Road investments in Podkarpackie Voivodeship
In Podkarpacie Voivodeship, a dynamic development of a network of new roads is underway, including the construction of Via Carpatia route - S19 expressway.
There are over 54 km of S19 expressway under construction, and another 85 km are under preparation. More than 30 km have already been completed (from the Sokołów Małopolski junction to the Rzeszów Południe junction). The length of S19 in Podkarpackie Voivodeship will ultimately be about 169 km.
Total length of sections with a building permit: 46 km.
Total investment value: more than PLN 1.3 billion.
In 2022, Rzeszów will be connected by S19 expressway not only with Lublin, but also with Warsaw through S17. It will be a new, convenient and safe road connection with the capital city. It will take less than 3 hours to complete the 300 km route connecting the suburbs of Rzeszów and Warsaw.
More than 85 km of the future S19 from the Rzeszów Południe junction to the state border in Barwinek are under preparation.
100 Ring Roads Programme
In Podkarpackie Voivodeship, the programme involves, among others, the following ring roads:
Sanok (DK28) - 7 km: opened in January 2020; heavy transit traffic was moved outside the city centre;
Stalowa Wola and Niska (DK77) - 15 km: the value of the investment totals over PLN 199 million; its completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021;
the so-called Łańcut Ring Road (DK94) - 5.8 km: the value of the investment totals over PLN 115 million; its completion is scheduled for September 2021.
There are 8 more ring roads under preparation in Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
Government support for local roads
The years 2016-2020 saw a rapid increase in government support for improving local road infrastructure.
Thanks to the Local Government Roads Fund, the funds for Podkarpackie Voivodeship increased in 2019 compared to previous years from PLN 50 million to over 300 million, i.e. by 600 percent.
In the years 2016-2020, 665 gmina and poviat tasks were implemented in Podkarpacie region, totalling over PLN 656 million, including over PLN 317 million from the Local Government Roads Fund in 2019.
A total of 919 km of local roads were built, rebuilt and renovated.
Bridges for Regions Programme
The programme provides co-financing for the development of project documentation for the construction of new bridge crossings of strategic importance for the region.
We have planned to provide PLN 5.8 million to develop project documentation for the construction of 3 new bridges in Podkarpackie Voivodeship: on the San River in Stalowa Wola, Jarosław and Brzozowski poviat.
