Prime Minister Beata Szydło on the first year of PIS’s government: we have a sufficient amount of energy and ideas

We are a harmonious team with one aim – to make changes in Poland that people are waiting for. We kept our word. In this year we managed to do a lot – said Prime Minister Beata Szydło in a Wednesday interview with Bogdan Rymanowski in the TVN24 programme “Jeden na jeden”.

The last year was full of tough moments, but it was definitely worth the effort – stated Prime Minister Beata Szydło in a TVN24 broadcast, during which she summarised the year of work of her government. We will not move backwards in introducing the declared reforms – she added.

In the interview with Bogdan Rymanowski the Prime Minister said that her government had not avoided mistakes, but it could draw conclusions from them. We can do a great deal of good for Poles, take care of problems of common people – just as PiS did. During the campaign, we promised Poles that we would take care of their issues, and we did. We are doing it consequently, we kept our word – underlined the Prime Minister. She also called opposition politicians to take care of citizens’ issues, rather than their own particular interests.

Acceleration of economic growth

The priority of the government for the next year is the development and realisation of the “Responsible Development Plan” of Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. If we realise this programme, it will leverage investments – said Prime Minister Beata Szydło.

During a morning interview on TVN24 the Prime Minister was asked, among others, about the data of the Central Statistical Office presented on Tuesday, according to which in the third quarter of this year the Polish economy grew at 2.5 % year to year. The budget is stable and well calculated for our flagship programme 500+ – ensured the Prime Minister. As the Prime Minister states, the recent economic slowdown is a temporary situation. Other countries also note poorer macroeconomic indicators. We must obviously take all actions to accelerate the growth – underlined the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also expressed her hope for realising another election promise on Wednesday, namely lowering the retirement age. It is all calculated. Poland can afford that – she underlined.

Single tax

We want taxes to be simpler and to support entrepreneurs – underlined Prime Minister Beata Szydło. As she added, last analyses are being conducted. The Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers is preparing various calculations concerning the single tax. As the Prime Minister ensured, her government will not introduce such taxes that would be a barrier for entrepreneurs. I will never accept that – she declared.

In response to the question of Bogdan Rymanowski concerning the tax free amount, the Prime Minister said that the PiS government would fulfil all promises. The single tax would solve the problem of the tax free amount. If we do not introduce this tax, we will propose another solution – stated the Prime Minister. As she added, her government is considering the mechanism of progressive increase of the tax free amount up to PLN 8 000, but at this stage it is too early to talk about details.
