Time of giving thanks

During the Mass and pilgrimage the role of women in evangelism was emphasised. On the occasion of the ongoing Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy women were thanked for being the apostles of mercy. During the Holy Mass the homily was delivered by the Olomouc Archbishop Jan Graubner, Archbishop of Moravia. His presence alluded to Czech princess Doubravka who married the ruler of the tribe of Polans, Mieszko I, and introduced him to Christian life.

Archdiocesan Pilgrimage of Women and Girls to Piekary Holy Mary

The pilgrimage of women and girls to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Justice and Social Love in Piekary Śląskie takes place every year on the Sunday after the celebration of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. Tens of thousands of women: mothers, daughters, nuns from various congregations take part in the pilgrimage. Women pray, above all for their families, for health and learning, and thank Piekary Holy Mary. Next to the May pilgrimage of men to Piekary Śląskie, the pilgrimage of girls and women is one of the most important religious events in Upper Silesia.
