During the event special cheques were granted to voluntary and professional fire brigades. This additional financial support will help them mount effective rescue operations. Over the course of 19 years the aid scheme for fire brigades resulted in the firefighters receiving PLN 14 million, which was spent towards such improvements as equipment used in fire-fighting, as well as water and chemical rescue operations.

Awards were given to 249 fire brigades. There are over 16 thousand Voluntary Fire Brigades across the country, with about 500 thousand volunteers offering their service. You are building a Poland, which is becoming more and more safe, said the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

He also recalled the introduction of the programme for the modernisation of uniformed services, which aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency with which these services operate and to create conditions conducive to the performance of their statutory tasks.
