Polish and British Prime Ministers’ talks

On Friday evening Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had a telephone conversation with the British Prime Minister Theresa May. The topic of the conversation were the preparations to the Sunday summit of the European Council during which the agreement governing the rules of the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union is to be reached.

The Prime Minister Theresa May thanked the Head of the Polish Government for the actions undertaken in order to find a compromise between the United Kingdom and the other states of the EU. As she pointed out, the agreement reached is the best possible agreement that can be reached. The Head of the British Government informed the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki that for Saturday she plans additional talks with the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council.

The Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki pointed out that the United Kingdom always could, and will be able to in the future, count on the support of the Polish government. The agreement drawn up by the Union and British negotiators constitutes the basis of the continuation of these close relations, in particular when it comes to the economic, defence and safety policy. Also in bilateral relations Poland and the United Kingdom will remain close allies.
