Fight against drunk drivers. Governmental proposals on Tuesday

The Prime Minister referred to in this way to the tragic events of Kamień Pomorski. On January 1, a drunk driver killed 6 persons there. According to the Prime Minister “an unlimited tender for the most radical and controversial solutions started” after this event.

“It is important to find the most reasonable solutions and continue the ones that bring results,” assessed Donald Tusk. He added that over several years we had noted a significant decrease of accidents, also the most tragic ones which are caused by drunk drivers.

Stop tolerating drunk drivers

“We don’t combat the plague of drunk drivers if what we have is tolerance towards them,” stressed the Prime Minister. In his opinion, apart from harsh measures of public prosecutors, courts and police, we, as the Polish people, have to think what we can do each day so that this tolerance towards drunk drivers decreases”. “Without this, our efforts will be in vain,” stressed Donald Tusk.

Concrete solutions on Tuesday

The Prime Minister announced that a package of solutions on the fight against drunk drivers will be presented at the Tuesday meeting of the government (January 7). On Thursday, Donald Tusk held talks on this issue with ministers Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, Marek Biernacki and Zbigniew Rynasiewicz, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Development.
