Prime Minister’s meeting with the President of Portugal
|
Chairman of the Council of Ministers Donald Tusk met with President of the Republic of Portugal Anibal Cavaco Silva now on an official visit to Poland. The talks focused on Polish-Portuguese relations with special stress on economic cooperation between the two countries.

Prime Minister met with Polish ambassadors
|
Head of government Donald Tusk took part in the annual conference of Polish ambassadors. The agenda included modernisation of diplomatic posts as well as elaboration of priorities and goals of Polish foreign policy. “We want Polish diplomacy, especially wherever it has an important role to play, not to diverge in the level of equipment, training and possibilities from other EU countries,” said the Prime Minister at the press conference after the meeting.

Prime Minister: EU summit adopted uniform, reasonable and resolute stance
|
Chairman of the Council of Ministers Donald Tusk recognised the conclusions from the extraordinary European Council session on Georgia as moderate success. “We managed to take a uniform, reasonable and resolute stance,” the head of Polish government stressed. He added that the joint effort of many states managed to avert the threat of a futile, fruitless conclusion.

Prime Minister commemorated the 69th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II
|
Celebrations marking the consecutive anniversary of the outbreak of World War II started at Westerplatte at 4.45 a.m. “We have been and shall be building our national identity based on the memory of our heroes,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk. “There would be no Polish identity if we renounced this memory,” he underscored.

Prime Minister: Poland shall be strategically more secure
|
Chairman of the Council of Ministers Donald Tusk stressed that the installation of the American anti-missile defence system shall augment Poland’s security. According to the Prime Minister, Słupsk and Redzikowo shall also become more secure. “The entire effort I engaged in negotiations with the American side consisted in that the involvement of the Americans, to a greater extent that heretofore, concerned the entire territory of Poland, because Redzikowo and Słupsk /-/ shall be guarded better than any other area,” the head of government said during a meeting with the dwellers of Słupsk and the environs.

Prime Minister and President at Brussels summit
|
On 1st September, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Lech Kaczyński shall go together to attend the European Council summit devoted to the situation in Georgia. “We shall represent a uniform, solidary stance,” the head of government declared. “It shall be a resolute and at the same time balanced one,” he added.
