Mikołaj Budzanowski
Born on 11 November 1971 in Kraków.



From 20 July 2009 to 18 November 2011, Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Treasury, responsible for supervision over strategic companies operating in the oil and gas sector and over diversification projects, including the construction of LNG terminal in Świnoujście, shale gas extraction and the development of infrastructure for exploitation and transfer of energy resources.



From September 2008 to 20 July 2009, Director of the Department of Ownership Supervision and Privatisation in the Ministry of Treasury, exercising supervision over strategic companies in the oil and gas sector. Responsible, among others, for the preparation of a special purpose act on the construction of LNG terminal in Świnoujście and related investments.



From January 2008 to September 2008, Director of the Department of Climate Change and Sustainable Development in the Ministry of Environment, responsible, among others, for negotiating the 3 x 20 EU energy and climate package and the works on the National Allocation Plan II.



From July 2004 to December 2007, advisor to the Polish delegation to the European Parliament in Brussels. Worked in the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety of the European Parliament and in the Committee on the Climate Change.

Received scholarship from the Japanese Sasakawa Foundation (Nippon Foundation) in 1999, as well as from Fonds d’Aide aux Lettres Polonaises Independantes, Tournan-en-Brie. In 1998, stayed in Paris and Grenoble, and in 1995-1996, at the University of Trier, as part of the Deutsch Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) scholarship.



Graduated from the Faculty of History at the Jagiellonian University (1990-1996), the University of Trier (1995), and the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at the Jagiellonian University (2002-2003). Received a PhD degree at the Jagiellonian University. Author of many scientific publications on the European integration and energy safety.



Winner of the "Konfederatka - przyjaciel pracodawcy" ["Konfederatka - the Employer’s Supporter"] prize in the Offices and State Institutions category, granted by the Employers of the Republic of Poland in November 2010.



Speaks several foreign languages. Hobbies: rock climbing, running and skiing.



Married, has two children: Kasia and Michał.
