Marek Sawicki
Born on 8th April 1958 in Sawice.

Graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture of the Higher Pedagogical and Agricultural School in Siedlce. He also finished post-graduate studies in agricultural law of the European Union in the Institute of Agricultural Law of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2006 he obtained a Ph.D. in agricultural sciences in the Podlasie Academy.

In 1983-1986 he was an assistant lecturer in the Higher Pedagogical and Agricultural School in Siedlce. In 1986 he became an inspector at the sugar-factory in Sokołów Podlaski. In 1989 1990 he was a teacher in the Agricultural School Centre in Sokołów Podlaski. In 1990-1996 he was chief officer of the Repki commune and also the commune councilor until 1994. In 1996-1997 he was secretary of state in the Ministry of Communication and the government’s plenipotentiary for telecommunication issues in rural areas. He owns a farming estate. Member of the Association of Voluntary Fire Services since 1985.

Member of Parliament (the Sejm) since 1993. He was, among others, the Sejm’s secretary, the chairman of the Committee for Protection of Competition and Consumers, deputy chairman of the Polish Group in the Interparliamentary Union. In the Sejm of the 4th term he was the chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus of the Polish Peasants Party (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe) and deputy chairman of the Committee of Economy and the Committee of Agriculture and Rural Development.
